Kari (Klug) Rasmussen May 24, 2010
Kari Jo (Klug) Rasmussen, age 24, of Columbia Heights, formerly of New Richland, died on Monday, May 24, 2010 at North Memorial Medical Center, along with her unborn child, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Church in Owatonna with Rev. Sid Veenstra, officiating. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca, and will continue on Saturday morning for one hour prior to services, at Bethel Church. Memorials may be directed to the Kari Rasmussen Memorial Scholarship Fund which has been established through Bethel University in Arden Hills (Kari''s Alma Mater). Kari Jo was born on November 30, 1985 in Mankato, Minnesota to George and Joanne (Wallace) Klug. She was a 2004 graduate of NRHEG where she had been very active in band. During her high school years Kari worked for the Clarks Grove Veterinary Clinic in Waseca. It was during a high school T.E.C Retreat that Kari met her future husband. After high school, she continued her education at Bethel University in Arden Hills. On March 17, 2007 Kari was united in marriage to John S. Rasmussen at Bethel Church in Owatonna. In 2008 Kari earned her bachelors degree in biblical/theological studies from Bethel University. During her years at Bethel she continued her passion for music, and was very active in Jazz Band. She has been employed at Bethel University in the development office, and currently was working on her master''s degree in holistic nutrition. She enjoyed traveling, and had a love for animals, music, and time spent with her family. Kari was a ray of bright light to everyone, and was always willing to help anyone! She is survived by her husband John of Columbia Heights; by her parents George and Joanne (Wallace) Klug of New Richland and her brother Peter and sister Katelyn, both of New Richland; by her father-in-law and mother-in-law Rob and Janice Rasmussen of Hayfield and her brothers- in-law and sisters-in-law Daniel Rasmussen of Mankato, Sarah Rasmussen of Hayfield, Faith Rasmussen of Hayfield, Sam Rasmussen stationed in Vilseck, Germany, and Aaron Rasmussen of Hayfield; by her paternal grandparents John and Mary Klug of Waseca and her maternal grandmother Arlis Wallace of Waterville; by many aunts and uncles, cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Curtiss Wallace and her uncle, Jim Klug.
