JUDITH LOU GREENEY, age 80 of Waseca, passed away peacefully at her home on the afternoon of Monday, June 13, 2022.
Born on September 2, 1941 in Waseca, Judy was the daughter of Nels and Ruth (Phelps) Fostveit. She attended school in Waseca, and graduated with the class of 1959. Shortly after graduation, on July 18, 1959, Judy married Jon Greeney at the Methodist Church in Waseca. Together they raised four children and lived their entire lives in Waseca. Over her working years, Judy was employed with Hansel & Gretel Preschool, Brown Printing in Waseca, McDonalds in Waseca, and most recently she worked at Walmart. She and Jon enjoyed playing pfeffer with their card club, and Judy loved working crossword puzzles, gardening, sharing recipes with friends, traveling, and visiting the casino. She and her family were long-time members of Calvary Episcopal Church in Waseca before its closure, but also attended Episcopal churches in Janesville, Waterville, and Le Center.
Judy is survived by her husband, Jon of Waseca; four children, Jeff (Lisa) Greeney of Bloomington, Jim (Jackie) Greeney of Waseca, Jay Greeney of Ely, and Jayne (Larry) Schill of St. Augusta; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Michaelis of Brainerd, Kay (Joe) Fitterer and Donna Mann, both of Florida; and sisters-in-law, Donna Fostveit of Waseca and Dorean Sleen of Waseca. She was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Dallas and Lola Greeney; brother, Nels Fostveit; and brothers-in-law, Bill Greeney, Richard Michaelis, and Ron Mann; twelve half siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Judy will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at the State Street Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, with Rev. Carolyn Doering of Faith Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Private family interment will take place at Woodville Cemetery at a later date.
