JUDITH “JUDY” ANN RICHARDSON, age 82 of Smith’s Mill passed away on the morning of Monday, February 6, 2023 at her home.
Judy was born in Minnesota Lake on April 6, 1940 to parents Remigius and Elizabeth (Evan) Bach. She was the second oldest of 13 children. She went to country school through seventh grade and graduated from Minnesota Lake High School in 1957. Judy attended Mankato State and graduated in 1961 with a degree in Elementary Education. She then worked for the Waterville-Elysian schools for 35 years teaching in the primary grades. When she retired, she continued her passion of working with children by volunteering at the Janesville school. Judy married Matt Richardson in Minnesota Lake on November 30, 1963. They lived on their small farm near Smith’s Mill all their years together where they raised their three children. Judy had several flower gardens on the farm and she spent endless hours caring for them. In 1997 her first grandchild of five arrived and she spent the rest of her life helping to care for them in their early years and watching them play sports as they grew older. She enjoyed her flower gardens, bird watching, and volunteering at school and at St. Ann’s Catholic Church where she was a long-time member.
Judy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Matt Richardson of Smith’s Mill; two children, Mark (Jodi) Richardson of Janesville and Marsha (Paul) Koski of Esko; five grandchildren; and siblings, Donald (Sharon) Bach of Reno, Betty (Jim) Wolff of Mankato, Emilie (Tom) Schwen of Bloomington, IN, Bonnie (Gary) Holmes of Janesville, Gary (Julie) Bach of Minnesota Lake, Ray Bach of Chicago, IL, Joan (Dick) Stenzel of St. Peter, Sally (Gene) Roesler of Waldorf, Becky Doyle of Sparta, WI, Paul (Ann) Bach of Becker, Philly (Mark) Kauffmann of St. Peter, and Brenda (Steve) Skramstad of Eagle Lake. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her son, Matthew Richardson; a brother, William Bach; and two brothers-in-law, Frank Richardson and Jim Koberoski.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the Janesville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service, and will continue for one hour before the Mass at the church on Saturday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville.
