JOSHUA "PONYTAIL” PETERSEN, a loyal father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, October 24, 2024 after a very brief stint with cancer at the age of 44. Josh was a well-loved local figure, known for his vibrant personality and adventurous spirit. He leaves a legacy of warmth and laughter throughout Waseca, MN and St. Petersburg, Florida, where he spent many years of his life.
Those who knew Josh will remember him for his colorful sense of humor, his gusto for life, and his unwavering commitment to being a loving father to his son, Devon, the most cherished part of his life. Josh took immense pride in being a father and dedicated each day to creating special memories with Devon. Some of their most special time together was spent watching wrestling matches at home, having “Daddy/Devon Dinner Dates” at El Molino, and going on fun adventures to theme parks and fairs.
Josh is survived by his son Devon, as well as his loving mother, Caren Campbell (Jimmy Peterson), two sisters, Kimberly Dunn and Monica (Robert) Phelps, and his two beloved nieces, Zoey and Riley Dunn. His death is preceded by his father, Wayne “Petey” Petersen, as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
In honor of Josh’s spirit, we invite all who knew him to celebrate his life by sharing stories, photos, laughter, and love on his birthday, November 10th, 2024 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the American Legion Post 228, (700 S State St, Waseca, MN 56093).
