Joseph P. Karl, age 90, a lifelong farmer in Cannon City Township, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault with the Rev. Kevin Finnegan, pastor officiating. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church on Monday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault. Joseph Peter Karl, the son of Andrew and Anna (Emge) Karl, was born on December 27, 1919 at his family farm in Cannon City Township, Rice County. As a young man Joe began farming with his father and continued farming the families land all of his life until his health diminished. Joe also ushered for many years at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He is survived by three nephews, Larry (Marsha) Karl of Faribault, Francis (Ruth) Karl of Faribault and LaVerne (Deb) Caron of Kalamazoo, MI; by seven nieces, Janet DeCoux of Faribault, Carol (Richard) Vilendrer of Faribault, Susan (Rick) Schultz of Faribault, Joanne (Dave) Lippert of Faribault, Barbara Caron of Lincoln, NE, Loyola (James) Caron-Merchant of Lincoln, NE and Fran (Jim) Caron- Engstrom of Cedarberg, WI and many great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Barbara Karl and Clara Karl Caron, by a brother in infancy, Jacob Karl, a brother John Karl, sister in law, Amalda Karl, brother in law, Clifford Caron and by nieces and nephews.
