Joseph "Chuck" Charles Gostomczik

July 28, 1951 — February 16, 2025

Rochester, Minnesota

JOSEPH “CHUCK” CHARLES GOSTOMCZIK, age 73, of Rochester, formerly of Waseca and Janesville, died on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at River Bend Assisted Living in Rochester.

Born on July 28, 1951, in Waseca, he was the son of Joseph Anthony and Anita Ann (Hoehn) Gostomczik. Joe grew up on the family farm in rural Waseca and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, graduating with the class of 1969. Following his education, Joe was drafted into the United States Army but shortly after was honorably discharged to help his dad on the farm. On October 18, 1975, Joe was united in marriage to Lynn Sunde at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Together they made their home in rural Waldorf, raising three children and were later divorced. Joe worked at Brown Printing in Waseca for many years before his health no longer allowed, retiring in the early 1990’s. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, and fishing, always looking forward to his yearly trip to Canada with friends. Joe was an avid gardener, frequently bringing his produce to the local farmers markets. He always appreciated a good bite to eat and a cup of coffee. Despite Joe’s declining health over the years, he always kept a positive attitude and never hesitated to share many of his good one-liners.

Joe is survived by his children: Andy (Amber) Gostomczik of Byron, Dana (Kera) Gostomczik of Waseca, and Erin (Nathan) Colvin of Lakeville; eight grandchildren: Kamden, Kyla and Trey Gostomczik, and Kade, Kaleb, Maddyn, Romyn and Aeyro Gostomczik; sisters: Shari (Mike) Heinen of Hutchinson, Connie (Larry) Troy of Owatonna, and Kathy (Brad) Wallace of Gaylord; former wife, Lynn Gostomczik; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother in infancy; and niece, MaryJo Wallace.

Joe’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Roxie and Chuck Schwab for the many years of exceptional care Joe received.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. Glenn Frerichs as celebrant. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until the time of the service on Thursday.
