Jose A. "Joe" Duenes, age 83 of New Richland, died on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 10th at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in New Richland with Fr. Swamy Pothireddy officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in New Richland. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in New Richland, and will continue Monday morning for one hour prior to services. McRaith Funeral Home of Waseca is handling arrangements. Jose "Joe" was born on March 5, 1925 in Guanajuato, Mexico to Telofilo and Felicitas (Aguirre) Duenes. Joe moved to Minnesota in 1941 and began employment at the quarry in Mankato, and then worked for the post office. He was united in marriage on February 19, 1946 to Andrea Garcia-Villarreal at San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio, Texas. They later moved to New Richland where Joe worked for Rock Island Railroad for a number of years, then farmed until his retirement. He was a longtime member of All Saints Catholic Church in New Richland. Joe is survived by his children Frank (Lynn) Duenes of Janesville, Ramiro (Judy) Duenes of Rochester, Henry Duenes of Waseca, Mary (Bob) Podratz of Waseca, and Lisa Baldwin of New Richland; by 24 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; by his sister Sylvina (Alfred) Mendez of San Antonio, TX, and his brother Mike Duenes of Barron, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife Andrea on May 30, 2007; by three sisters and two brothers. Casketbearers are Joe''s grandsons: Jason Duenes, Jeremy Grund, Aaron Duenes, Mario Duenes, Zachary Duenes, Bryan Grund, Dustin Grund, Jonathan Duenes, Steven Duenes, and Eric Duenes.
