Jose Abraham Martinez-Ortiz

JOSE ABRAHAM MARTINEZ-ORTIZ, age 18 of Waseca, passed away as the result of an ATV accident on the morning of Friday, July 17, 2020, near Finland, MN.

Born in Rochester on October 19, 2001, Jose was the son of Julia Martinez-Ortiz. He attended grade school at Sacred Heart in Waseca and graduated from Waseca High School with the class of 2020. Jose was a very charismatic kid who always brightened everyone’s mood with his jokes. He loved being with his friends and family – especially his nephew. He worked at McDonalds in Waseca for several years, and enjoyed soccer, swimming, fishing, video games, camping and being outdoors, and hanging out with friends and family. He was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.

Jose is survived by his mother, Julia Martinez-Ortiz; and four siblings, Aurora De Jesus Martinez-Ortiz, his twin sister: America C. Martinez-Ortiz, Cruz Y. Martinez-Ortiz, and Jennifer G. Martinez-Ortiz. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jose Cruz Ortiz Gomez; and his grandmother, Marcaria Gonzalez Huerta.

Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the State Street Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, with Father The Hoang officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.
