JON ALFRED TRAHMS, age 80, of Janesville passed away Sunday morning, July 14, 2024 at Bridgewater in Janesville.
Born on January 4, 1944 in Waseca, Jon was the eldest son of Alfred and Dorothy (Storjohann) Trahms. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Janesville High School with the class of 1961. He attended the University of Minnesota until he enlisted in the Army Reserve. He spent basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri and served until his honorable discharge. He returned to the University of Minnesota then returned home to farm with his dad and eventually his brothers, R. David and Tom.
Jon was an active member in his community. He was a member of the Jaycees and served as both regional and district director and was elected to the MN JCI Senate. He served on the board of directors of Waseca-Janesville Ag. Co-op as well as its successor Southern Valley Co-op. He was on the Waseca County Soil and Water Conservation Board and was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving as a Trustee. He was also a member of the Janesville American Legion Post 281. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was strongly committed to his family, especially his nieces and nephews, as well as his lifelong friends. He was a funny, hardworking, loyal, and kind man who will be dearly missed.

Jon is survived by his siblings, Cristine (Paul Nuedorfer) Trahms of Seattle, WA, Marilyn (Marc Herring) Trahms of Sandy, OR, Margaret (David Coombs) Trahms of Frederickton, NB, CA, William Trahms of Mankato, Thomas (Sherry) Trahms of Janesville, Dorothea (Mark) Allen of Minneapolis, R. David (Cindi Jo) Trahms of Janesville; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Dorothy Trahms.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Janesville Cemetery.
