Jon Robert Reger

JON ROBERT REGER, age 53, of Waseca died peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 4, 2020.

Born on June 14, 1967, in Waseca to Robert and Sharon (Albert) Reger. Jon received his elementary education at Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Waseca High School in 1985. He continued his education at Jackson Technical College where he studied to be an electrician. On August 19, 1989, Jon was united in marriage to Amy Varpness at St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington. Together they made their home in Waseca where they raised two children. Jon worked at Brown Printing for twenty-two years. Following his career with Brown Printing he worked at Bedford Technology in Worthington, Sage Glass in Faribault and most recently at Diane’s Fine Desserts in Le Center. Jon loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, always looking forward to taking fishing trips to Canada, and spear fishing on Mille Lacs Lake. He also enjoyed hunting deer and pheasants, riding snowmobile with his brothers, and following the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, and Wild. He enjoyed his many trips to Texas to go fishing and to visit his parents. Jon loved spending time at the family cabin “Up North” on 3rd Crow Wing Lake and at the Reger lake lot at Lake Lida. He was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. Above all else, Jon cherished spending time with his wife, children and especially his granddaughter.

Jon is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Amy; children: Cory (Courtney Zabel) Reger of Mankato and Alyssa (Ryan) Held of Bemidji; granddaughter, Carly Reger; brothers: Mark (Nancy) of Waseca, Greg (Martha) of Prior Lake, and Paul (Judy) of Lindstrom; mother-in-law, Audrey Varpness of Worthington; sister-in-law, Kim Vortherms of Huron, SD; brother-in-law, Vince (Kristen) Varpness of Richfield; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kent; and father-in-law, Donald Varpness.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, October 9, 2020 at the STATE STREET CHAPEL of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca. Vistation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:30 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. The Hoang as Celebrant.
