JOHNNY CLIFTON “FLIP” “WHIP” JOHNSON, age 59 of Waseca, died at his girlfriend’s home on Sunday, November 15, 2020.
Born in Chicago on March 1, 1961, Flip was the son of Zealo Johnson and Jesse Williams. As a young man he attended school in Chicago. Flip got his nickname as a young boy from doing flips off of anything he could find. He enjoyed singing, old school music, telling jokes, and long drives. He had an excellent sense of direction and laughed with friends and family that he was his own GPS. He also loved eating anything and everything – except onions or green peppers. He will be long remembered by his favoite words, “Man Man”. Flip was a great brother and loving father, and was a member of Real Life Church in Waseca.
Flip is survived by his girlfriend, Maria Cole of Waseca; twenty five children; a school of grandchildren; and eight siblings, James, Yvonne, Queen (George), Emma, Jesse Jr., Diane, Zealo Jr., and Charles. He will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, George.
Visitation will be held from 4-5PM on Friday, November 20, 2020 at the third street chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca. Closing prayers will be held at 5:00PM Friday. Interment will take place in Chicago at a later date.
