John T. 'Jack' Murphy
JACK MURPHY, age 80 of Waseca died on Friday, April 14, 2017 at The Beacon in New Richland.
Born on December 11, 1936 in Waseca, Minnesota, he was the son of Thomas and Esther (Ross) Murphy.  He graduated from Sacred Heart High School.  Jack married Ardith Brusven on May 12, 1962 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca and they were later divorced.  Jack was a lifelong Waseca resident and worked for the E. F. Johnson Co. for almost 30 years.  He was an avid sports fan, especially football and baseball and played basketball.  He also coached and umpired for the girls softball team, winning the 1973 state championship.  He enjoyed time with his friends, spending time outdoors walking and biking, and he enjoyed a cold beer on a hot day.  Jack was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.
He is survived by three children, Shannon (Jerome) Cassidy, Shawn (Tammy) Murphy, and Shane (Nicole) Murphy all of Waseca; six grandchildren, Stacy (Chris Donovan) Cassidy, Luke (Chelsey) Cassidy, Grady Murphy,  Remy Murphy, Dylan Murphy, and Tyanna Murphy; and three great grandchildren, Jayde, Makya, and Kenna.   He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, CeCe Hunt, Peggy Thompson and Diane Arnold; and brothers, Leo Murphy and Terry Murphy.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca with Father Gregory Leif officiating.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, one hour before services at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.
