JOHN JOSEPH PELANT, JR; age 78 of Waterville, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Lakeshore Inn in Waseca.
Born in New Prague on January 6, 1941, John was the son of John and Helen (Frieuf) Pelant.  He attended school in Waseca and graduated with the class of 1959.  On October 2, 1965 John was married to Judith Patricia Wesley in Medford.  Over his working years he was employed as a mechanic with Green Giant in Montgomery, and as a welder at Delta Truck Bodies in Waseca and Mercury Minnesota in Faribault.  Following his retirement, he enjoyed working as a caretaker at Parkside Apartments in Waterville where he really enjoyed blowing snow and mowing the grass.  John was a long-time member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville where he had been involved with the Knights of Columbus.  As a younger man he enjoyed racing cars in Morristown, and was also fond of hunting and fishing, bowling, playing cards, gardening, woodworking, caring for his horses and other animals, and spending time with his grandchildren – especially attending their activities and sporting events.
John is survived by three sons, Jim (Sally) Pelant of Waterville, Jason (Trista) Pelant of Waterville, and Josh (Amy) Pelant of Shakopee; five grandchildren, Carissa, Miranda, Jordan, Rylee, and Ashlyn Pelant; and one sister, Betty Dahle of Waseca.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville, with Rev. Michael Ince officiating.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville.
