John Papa Waters

John "Papa" Waters, 64, of Janesville, passed away Tuesday April 4, 2017 unexpectedly due to complications in a car crash.
Memorial Mass will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 8, 2017 at St. Ann Catholic Church of Janesville. Visitation will be one hour prior. Arrangements are being handled by the Starkson & Steffel Funeral and Cremation Services ~ Arnoldt Chapel of Janesville. www. Janesvillefuneral.com
John was born February 8, 1953 to Jim and Marge Waters. He grew up in Harlan Iowa, and graduated from Harlan High School in 1971. After graduation, John joined the United States Navy and enjoyed some traveling.
On December 22, 1975 he married the love of his life, Deb Burger, and together they raised their 4 kids.
John worked his lifetime at numerous manufacturing jobs, and also got to travel the state in his Rock & Roll band.
He loved hunting and fishing, and any moment he got to be in Duluth with his family. He was a talented singer and piano player. Family was John's most important aspect of life. He was a dedicated husband, loving father and grandpa, and an all-around, good man. He will be remembered for his jokes and sarcasm towards everyone.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Deb; children, Cliff (Janelle) Waters, Amy (Chad Hanson) Waters, Ryan (Brittany Leidall) Waters; 15 grandchildren; brother-in laws, Dave King, Randy Burger and Gary Burger and very special nephew, Justin Burger, with many other family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; son, Shawn Waters; brothers, Jimmy, Bill and Tom Waters.
He was honored that his body was able to be donated to science for research and helping others.
