John Klug, age 91, of Waseca, died peacefully on Monday evening, September 10, 2018 at Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM on Friday, September 14 at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Waseca with Fr. Gregory Leif as Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Thursday, September 13, with a rosary service beginning at 3:30 PM and a prayer service beginning at 8 PM all at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Waseca. The visitation will continue for one hour prior to the Mass on Friday.

John Peter Klug was born on July 26, 1927, in Waseca to George and Bertha (Harguth) Klug. He attended country school and graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School with the Class of 1945. On October 17, 1950, John was united in marriage to Mary Jean Olson at St. John Catholic Church in Mankato. Together they raised 10 children and shared 63 years of marriage before Mary passed away on December 8, 2013.
At a young age, John began helping his father on the family farm working with livestock and tending to the crops. John was passionate about farming and continued to farm following his fathers retirement. He was proud to pass on his passion to his sons. Throughout his career as a famer, John was very active in selling seed corn for various company through the years. He owned and operated a welding business, and through his entrepreneurial spirit John was very active in agriculture until his retirement in 1991. Although John was passionate about farming, he was even more passionate about retirement. He and Mary Jean traveled all over the world. He also took this time to go on various fishing and hunting trips every year.
John was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in St. Mary Township, Waseca County, and eventually at the Church of the Sacred Heart where he was active in the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight and various church boards and activities. John was on the PCA Board of Directors for many years. In his later years, John and Mary Jean would spend countless nights playing cards with friends and playing bingo. Johns family will fondly remember him for his boisterous personality and sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.
John is survived by his children: Patricia (Jim) Johnson of Crete, NE, Margaret (Mike) Steffens of rural Waseca, Thomas Klug of rural Waseca, Helen (Bruce) Kleaver of Prior Lake, George (Joanne) Klug of New Richland, Mary Catherine (Tim) Talbott of Olathe, KS, Philip (Lonna) Klug of rural Waseca, Bill (Lisa) Klug of rural Waseca and Steven Klug of rural Waseca; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister: Theresa Wheelock of Janesville; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, James in 2009; granddaughter, Kari Jo (Klug) Rasmussen in 2010; brother, Joe Wengronowitz and one sibling at infancy.
