JOHN ROBERT JORISSEN, age 80 of Mankato, died on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Lakeshore Inn in Waseca.
Born in Linton, North Dakota on July 11, 1937, John was the son of Victor and Agnes (Weber) Jorissen.  He graduated in 1955 from St. Marys High School in Bird Island and later graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Pharmacy in 1963.  On April 4, 1959 John married Linda Roberts at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Minneapolis.  They later divorced.  Throughout his life John worked as a pharmacist in hospitals in Owatonna, Minneapolis, and Mankato.  He continued that career well into his 70s.  He loved the outdoors and could often be found walking or biking.  He enjoyed painting, writing, and playing music on his guitar or banjo and when those instruments werent in hand he would often whistle or sing.

John is survived by his children, Robert (Donna) Jorissen of AZ, Jacqueline Kretsch of MD, Cathryn Jorissen of Merrifield, MN, and Carolyn (Leonard) Schmidt of Waseca, MN; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry (Jackie) Jorissen of CO; and one sister-in-law, Mary Jorissen of MN.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his step-mother, Teresa Weber; five siblings, Dar Reimer, Clare Schumacher, Vic Jorissen, Marie Roberts, and Mae Beatrez; one grandson, Brandon Kretsch; and one son-in-law, David Kretsch. No public services will be held at this time.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American German Shepherd Dog Charitable Foundation.
