John Haley, age 82, of Waseca, passed away on Thursday, April 19th, surrounded by his family, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato following an extended battle with Parkinsons disease.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 AM on Monday, April 23rd at Church of the Sacred Heart in Waseca with Father Gregory Leif, celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Jarlath Cemetary, Iosco Township, Waseca County.
Visitation will be from 2 5 PM on Sunday, April 22nd at Starkson & Steffel Funeral Home ~ McRaith Chapel of Waseca with a prayer service beginning at 5:00 PM. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
John Thomas was born on January 12, 1936, in Waseca MN, to Thomas (Oscar) and Loretta (Pfeifer) Haley. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1954. Following high school he began farming with his father and brother in Elysian, MN. On November 14, 1964, he was united in marriage to Rita (Warmka) Haley at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton, MN. They were happily married for 42 years. John was proud to be a farmer and his family was very important to him. He enjoyed traveling and taking care of his cats and dogs.
He is survived by nine children, William (and Karen) Haley, Debra (and Patrick) Lehn, Robert Haley, Judith (and Tracy) Steiger, Diane (and John) Scherwinski, Barbara (and Joel) Enochs, Denise (and Jason) Koebernick and Jennifer (and Rajib) Rahman, and Brian Haley. He will be very deeply missed by his 15 grandchildren and sister, Helen.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rita, brothers Mark and Kenneth Haley and his parents Thomas (Oscar) and Loretta Haley, in-laws Louis and Katheryn Warmka, 5 brothers-in-law and 4 sisters-in-law.
Casket bearers are sons-in-laws, Patrick Lehn, Tracy Steiger, John Scherwinski, Joel Enochs, Jason Koebernick and Rajib Rahman. Honorary casket bearers daughter-in-law Karen Haley, nephew Paul Haley and brother-in-law Jim Warmka.
