JOHN B. SLATTERY, age 75 of Waseca, passed away at his home on the morning of Thursday, August 25, 2022.
Born in Waseca on June 1, 1947, John was the son of Robert and Luella (Miller) Slattery. He attended school in Waseca and graduated from Waseca Central High School with the class of 1965. He served his country in the Army National Guard for seven years, and on July 24, 1971 John was married to his wife, Jean, in Morristown. He worked at Bird’s Eye Foods in Waseca for 52 years, drove school busses for Clemons Bus Service for over twenty years, helped friends and family with spring and fall farm work, and spent his last four working years with the City of Waseca. He was one of the founding members of the Waseca County Sherriff’s Posse, attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville, and enjoyed snowmobiling, motocross, and caring for and riding horses.
John is survived by his wife, Jean of Waseca; six children, Jude (Krystal) Slattery of Waseca, Joe (Jeni) Slattery of Hastings, Johnny “Lenny” Slattery and his significant other Rachael Bluhm of Janesville, Jimmy Slattery of Waseca, Jay Slattery of Waseca, and Julie (Dustin) Harkins of Apple Valley; thirteen grandchildren, Maddie, Carson, Emily, Takara, Shannon, Jackson, Shea, Jayden, Oscar, Caitlin, Irving, Gabriella, and Harper; and two brothers, Bill (Jackie) Slattery of Crosby, and Jerry Slattery of Shakopee; and many other special relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dorothy Kaupa, and numerous others on both sides of his family
John has chosen to donate his body to the Mayo Clinic Anatomical Bequest Program. A public visitation to celebrate John will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the State Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca.
