Joanne M. Stoos June 9, 1944 - January 1, 2014
Joanne M. Stoos, age 69, of Faribault, MN passed away following a courageous two-year battle with Leukemia, with her family at her side, on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna, MN.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the River Valley Church, 722 Ravine St., Faribault. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Sunday from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Joanne Marie Wanous, was born on June 9, 1944 in Owatonna to Albert and Gladys (Johnson) Wanous. She graduated from Owatonna High School with the class of 1962, and the Faribault School of Practical Nursing in 1964 to be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Joanne worked as an LPN for 49 years in Faribault, Kenyon, and Kasson, MN, with 30 of those years dedicated to District One Hospital in Faribault. During the span of her career, she worked in maternity, ER, and various clinical nursing positions. Joanne loved to paint, scrapbook, and spend time with family and friends. Early on, Joanne''s daughter Jackee had a vision of seeing a barn on their farm as a Christian youth center. In 1998, Joanne proceeded with the barn renovation into an event center. She hosted craft shows, weddings, and fall festivals in the barn. Most recently the farm was sold to Whispers of Hope, a Christian retreat center for young women, which fulfilled Jackee''s vision.
She is survived by her children, Jodi (Brian) Buhr of Faribault and their daughter Ashley Jacqueline Buhr, Jim Reichert II of Honolulu, HI, and his children, Joshua Reichert, John Michael Reichert, and Annah Jacque Reichert, and John Reichert of Kansas City, KS and his daughter, Olivia Jacqueline Reichert; brothers, Brian Wanous of Las Vegas, and Gary Wanous of Owatonna; sister, Eileen Sones of Owatonna; husband, Keith Stoos of Faribault; former husband, Jim Reichert of Faribault; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jacqueline "Jackee" Reichert; parents; and sister, Carol Gillen.
As a way to continue Joanne''s generosity, memorials may be directed to the Joanne Stoos Memorial Fund established at the State Bank of Faribault.
