JOANNE IRENE (MADIGAN) EGENESS, age 75 of Waseca died on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at her home in Waseca.
Born on December 8, 1944 in Waseca, Minnesota, she was the daughter of LeRoy and Frances (Dahnert) Madigan. She attended Waseca Central High School and Albert Lea High School and later went on to earn a degree in computer science from Northwestern in Minneapolis. Joanne married David Egeness on April 28, 1962 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Meriden. Joanne worked several jobs over the years including executive secretary to the president and office manager for Fisher Lighting Co., airport security, Montgomery Ward, gift shop manager for The Towers in Bloomington and bank teller for Wells Fargo. Her most important job though was being a wife, mother, and friend. Joanne was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca, Red Hat Society in New Ulm, and American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries in Waseca.
She is survived by three daughters, Denise Manzelli of Charleston, SC, Deborah Thomas of Belle Plaine, and Colleen Ashbery of Kentwood, MI; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Frank (Pamela) Madigan of Mercer Island, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Dianne Nelson, Sharon Johnson and Carol Loney; one brother, LeRoy Madigan Jr.; sister-in-law, Shirley Madigan; and grandson, Brandon Egeness.
The public is invited to a graveside service at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 10:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:30 AM at Clear Lake Park in Waseca.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
