Joanna Rebekah Dolezal

June 15, 1988 — October 26, 2022

Psalms 139:1-3 O LORD, you have searched me and known me! 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. 3 You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.

Joanna Rebekah (Snell) Dolezal, the youngest of 5 siblings, was born on June 15, 1988 at LaCrosse, WI to Robert and Judith Snell. Joanna was born again by the Word of God in the waters of holy baptism on June 26, 1988, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Onalaska, WI.

Psalms 139:7-10 7 Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? 8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! 9 If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.

In August 1988 her family moved from Bangor, WI to Inver Grove Heights, MN where she attended Berea Lutheran School. Through the Word of God, the LORD was taking Joanna’s hand and leading her into all truth. On April 28, 2002 she publicly professed her faith in Jesus as her Savior at her confirmation at Berea Lutheran Church. Her education in the Word continued in high school, she attended Immanuel Lutheran High School, in Eau Claire, WI, graduating in May 2006. Joanna attended the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, pursuing a degree in business & economics, graduating in June 2011. During her college years she worked at Arby’s and became an assistant manager holding the position until the birth of the twins.

Psalms 139:13-14 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

In 2009 at the Arby’s parking lot in Hastings, MN, she was introduced to her future husband, David John Dolezal. Their wedding was May 5, 2012 at Parnell, Iowa. After a brief stay in Burnsville, MN, Dave and Joanna purchased a home in Waterville, MN. The wonderful works of the Lord for Joanna and Dave included twin sons, Titus and Cole, born in February 2013.  Joanna was a dedicated teacher to her sons, instructing them about the wonderful works of the LORD. Dave and Joanna were looking forward to the birth of a baby girl, Emma Jo, due in January 2023.

Psalms 139:16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them,

the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

God in His infinite wisdom called Joanna and her unborn daughter, Emma Jo, to the eternal mansions prepared for all believers in Christ Jesus by His death and resurrection, on the afternoon of October 26, 2022 in her home at Waterville, MN. The days written in the LORD’s book for Joanna was 34 years, 4 months, and 11 days.

Psalms 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24 And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

Still looking to God to lead them in the way everlasting are her husband Dave and sons Titus and Cole, parents Robert and Judith Snell and siblings Rachel (Tyler) Dassow, Jonathan (Melissa) Snell, and sister Ruth Snell; parents-in-law Mark and Marilyn Dolezal, sister-in-law Sarah (Johnny) Thompson. She is also survived by 2 nieces, Addison and Kelby and nephew Easton, and her grandmother-in-law Linda Dolezal. Joanna was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents and her brother Joshua Snell.

Joanna and Emma’s earthly remains will be laid to rest at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings, MN, to await the resurrection from the dead at Christ’s return on the Last Day.

Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”
