Joann Tuvey

April 22, 1941 — February 9, 2018

Joann (Miller) Tuvey, 76, of Janesville passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 9, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems of Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 14 at St. Anns Catholic Church in Janesville with Father Michael Cronin officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 13 at the Starkson & Steffel Funeral Home ~ Arnoldt Chapel of Janesville, and resuming one hour prior to services at the church.

Joann was born April 22, 1941 in Coeur dAlene, Idaho to John and Lucile (Authier) Miller. She grew up in Custer SD and graduated from Custer High School in 1959.
She began working for the US Forestry Services in the Black Hills and eventually attended Mt. Marty College in Yankton SD, the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, and graduated from the University of MN in 1963 with a degree in Dental Hygiene.
At the University of MN she met the love of her life, George. They were married in December of 1965, raised two children, John and Sara, and enjoyed over 52 years together.
After moving to Janesville in 1966, Joann worked for dentists in Mankato and Janesville. In the early 1980s she furthered her studies which led to working as a tax preparer for H&R Block.
Joann bought the H&R Block of Waseca, and later moved her independent tax office to Janesville, and worked until 2017.
Joann was a dedicated, lifelong fan of the Janesville Golden Bears and later the JWP Bulldogs, she was a devoted coachs wife, and she loved the Minnesota Twins, Gophers, Vikings and Lynx.
She was a loyal and involved member of St. Anns Catholic Church, joined numerous bridge clubs, and enjoyed puzzles and Chinese checkers. Joann followed and cheered on her grandkids from the beginning, and was always proud of them.
She is survived by her husband, George; son, John (Mary) Tuvey; daughter, Sara Tuvey; grandchildren, Mariah, Elliott, Amanda and Rebecca; sister, Vonni (Vern) Reinert; sisterin-law, Jeanne Tuvey; brother-in-law, Nelson (Debbie) Tuvey; step-sister, Mary Swedlund; special friends the Vanderhoofs, the Pestoriuses, the Niemczyks, and the von Holtums; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and bridge club members.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Ralph Lunder; brother, Chuck Miller; and sister-in-law, Rita Miller.
