JoANN MARIE PALM, age 82, of Waseca, died on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at her residence in Waseca.
Born on March 29, 1938 in Waseca, MN, she was the daughter of Al and Vera (Dardis) Kahnke. JoAnn graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waseca in 1956 and later married Kenneth Palm, September 24, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Through
the years, JoAnn worked at Minnesota Valley Action Council coordinating the Senior Nutrition Program and most recently worked at Hy-Vee in Waseca, in customer service. Years ago, she and her husband also owned the White Castle Bar. JoAnn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters and she was a lifetime member of the Waseca VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. JoAnn also enjoyed socializing with friends & family, caring for people, being active in church and playing cards and Bingo.
JoAnn is survived by two children, Randy Palm of Waseca and Rhea Palm (Mike Wussow) of Waseca; one sister, Geraldine Scannel-Roebuck of Oregon; one sister-in-law, Hazel Bethke of Waseca and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant son-Brian, four brothers, Stan, Leonard, Earl, and Kenneth, and one sister, Bernadette Haberman.
Due to the COVID-19 circumstances, a private family funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. Gregory Leif officiating. A webcast of JoAnn’s services will be posted for public viewing on the funeral home webpage.
Christian graveside service will be held on July 11, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca. A Celebration of Life open house will begin following the graveside service and continue until 5PM at the Waseca VFW.
