JESSE FRANCIS JOHNSON, age 90 of Waseca, died on the afternoon of Sunday, February 19, 2023 at the Lakeshore Rehabilitation Center in Waseca.
Jesse was born on March 18, 1932 to Floyd and Anna (Thompson) Johnson, near the area known as Lemond, Minnesota. At a young age the family moved to the St. Olaf Lake area where Jesse attended country school and later graduated from New Richland High School. Jesse served with the United States Army in Korea for almost two years before he was honorably discharged. On October 6, 1956 Jesse married Patricia Ann Eustice at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville, and later two boys were born to their family. He was employed at Bird’s Eye Foods for eight and a half years and then worked at the E.F. Johnson Company for the next 31 years. His favorite thing to do, though, was farm. For fun Jesse and Pat went to lots of dances, liked to travel, and were known to stop into a casino every once in a while. He was a life-member of the Waseca Sweet-Sommers VFW Post 1642 and was a long-time active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.
Jesse is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Pat Johnson of Waseca; two sons, Gary Johnson of Waseca and Craig (Cathy) Johnson of Waseca; five grandchildren, Brandon Johnson, Skye (Joe) Ronken, Cassie (Brent) Pedersen, Benjamin (Amanda) Johnson, and Katie Johnson and her fiancé Ethan Kopiecki; four great-grandchildren, Owen Ronken, Aden Ronken, Alexa Pedersen, and Graclyn Pedersen; one brother, Rodney (Joan) Johnson; one sister-in-law, Joyce (Larry) Wakefield; his step-mother, Delores Johnson; and by many nieces; nephews; and friends. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; a brother, Richard (Barb) Johnson and their three children.
