Janice M. Schmahl

JANICE MARIE HELENE SCHMAHL, age 71 of Waseca died on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Mayo Clinic Health Center in New Prague.

Born on May 23, 1951 in Waseca, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Herman and Marcella (Gronseth) Yonke.    She graduated from Janesville High School.  Janice married Steven Schmahl on August 4, 1972 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville.   Together they had two children before they later divorced.   Janice lived in Madison Lake for many years before later returning to Janesville and later moving to Waseca.

She is survived by one daughter and four granddaughters.    She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack Yonke; and one son, Eric Schmahl.

Private burial will be held at St. John’s Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Iosco Township, Waseca County.
