JANICE KAY HORSMAN, age 67 of Waseca, died on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Colony Court Assisted Living in Waseca.
Born in Mankato on June 11, 1954, Janice was the daughter of LuVerne and Sylvia (Zuhlsdorf) Lurth. She graduated from St. Peter High School with the class of 1973 before studying at the Mankato Technical Institute with a focus on baking. She was married to John R. Horsman in Stewartville. She worked for Waseca Public Schools as a lunch lady and cafeteria aide until her retirement in May of 2021. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and playing bar bingo with friends.
Janice is survived by three children, Shawna (Brian) Westphal of Waseca, Isaac Westphal of Faribault, and Ryan Westphal of Owatonna; four grandchildren, Logan, Skyler, Jasimyn, and Amelia; and six siblings, LaVonne “Bonnie” (Arnold) Jaster of St. Peter, Roberta “Birdie” Logue of Chatfield, Lynette “Lynn” (Elwood) Flowers of Wanamingo, Patricia “Pat” (Randy) Ruether of Mankato, Renee (Gordon) Regensheid of St. Cloud, and Michele “Mitch” (Keith) Wills of St. Peter. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband, John Horsman.
A memorial service for Janice will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the third street chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, with Rev. Paige Whitney officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the funeral home. A private family interment service will be held at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca on a later date.
