JANET J. HANSEN, age 80 of Kilkenny, died on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Mayo Health Systems-Mankato.
Born on October 3, 1935 in Kilkenny, Minnesota she was the daughter of Rudolph and Grace (Peach) Ebert.  She attended rural Le Sueur County school, attended Pillsbury College in Owatonna and graduated from Mankato State University with a degree in education.  Janet married Melvin A. Hansen on June 28, 1975 in Owatonna. Growing up Janet helped on the family farm and provided care for her mother.  She taught school in rural Steele County and later was employed for 25 years as a home health aide with Steel County. 
Janet is survived by one son, Joel (Chelsea) Hansen of Kilkenny; one brother, Roger Ebert of Kilkenny; sister-in-law, Inez Ebert of Waseca; nephew and nieces, Nathan Ebert, Valarie Danielson and Naomi Volkmer; she is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Cordova Cemetery in LeSueur County.
