James Herbert Frazier

April 4, 1936 — February 21, 2023

JAMES HERBERT FRAZIER, age 86 of Waterville, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at his home after an extended battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Born on April 4, 1936, in Louisburg, North Carolina, a son to the late Fred and Irma (Wilder) Frazier. James joined the Air Force, that would begin his life-long career in engineering. In the military he was part of the radar tracking field and would later become a technical worker on military airplanes and submarines. His time in the service even allowed him to meet Neil Armstrong after he broke the sound barrier flying the X-15, prior to the moon landing. James loved doing genealogy, fishing, hunting, camping, bike riding, hiking, geocaching and above all woodworking. He was always quick to help anyone in need and was loved by so many as being a great storyteller and will be missed by all who knew him. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville.

On May 22, 1971, he married Ruth Ann Neuenfeldt of Lewisville, MN who survives at home. Also surviving are his children, Jeff (Jodi) Frazier of Brighton, CO, Terry (Mike) Kelly of Byers, CO, Sara (Chad) Herrick of Rochester, MN, Holly Frazier of Shakopee, MN; nine grandchildren, Jason, Brandon, Uriah, Wes, Katy, Hanna, Kayla, August and Peter; six great-grandchildren, Caetlana, Emma, Bruce, Prudence, Warren and Ava; two siblings, Sarah (Leonard) Dean of Raleigh, NC, Irene Brantley of Spring Hope, NC; two sisters-in-law and several nieces, nephews and extended family from his prior marriage. He is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, infant daughter Julie, three brothers, two sisters, five brothers-in-law, one nephew and three sisters-in-law.

In honoring James’s wishes, he will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please direct donations to Mayo Clinic Hospice or a contribution of your choice. Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service is in charge of the arrangements.
