Jacob Gleason November 27, 1994 - September 23, 2009

Jacob S. Gleason, age 14 of rural Waseca, died on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 28th at 3:00 p.m. at the Waseca High School Gymnasium with Fr. Marty Schaefer, Celebrant. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Waseca. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Waseca High School Gymnasium. McRaith Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements. There will be a 7:00 p.m. parish prayer service Sunday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. Jacob Steven was born on November 27, 1994 in Waseca, Minnesota to Jerry and Joette (Splett) Gleason. Jacob was a freshman at Waseca High School. Jacob loved sports. He entered youth wrestling in kindergarten, played football since 4th grade, and played baseball through this last summer. Jacob earned a varsity letter in both 7th and 8th grade as a member of the Waseca Bluejay Varsity Wrestling team. He was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Jacob enjoyed hunting and fishing, weight lifting and hanging out with his friends. Jacob became a role model for many youth wrestlers, and was a good leader. Jacob is survived by his parents Jerry and Joette (Splett) Gleason of rural Waseca and his brother Brandon and sisters Jennifer and her special friend Chris Bartelt, and Kimberly; by his maternal grandmother Kathy Splett of Waseca; by aunts and uncles, his special niece Haylie, cousins and other relatives; he is also survived by his special mentors, Mike Gehloff, Brad Lechner, and Mark Pehrson. Jacob was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Raymond and Marjorie Gleason, his maternal grandfather Steve Splett, his maternal great grandmother Adeline "Bubbles" Cunningham, and his aunt Jeanne Manke. Casketbearers are: Zach Gehloff, Brandon Pederson, Lucas Johnson, Brock Kolander, Adam Brouwers, Eric Balfe, Austin Stroda, and Gunner Johnson. Honorary bearers are: Cody and C.J. Shakal, Members of the Waseca Bluejay Freshman Football Team, and Members of the Waseca Bluejay Varsity Wrestling Team.
