IRENE MARY OLIVER, age 104, of Waseca, died peacefully on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Koda Living Community in Owatonna.
Irene Oliver was born on January 31, 1916, in Cylinder, Iowa to Harvey and Mary (Kajewski) Oliver. At the age of five, her parents moved the family to Waseca. Irene attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and continued her education at Commercial College in Mankato.
Irene worked in the office of Dr. O.J. Swenson for 31 years. She then worked as a part time bookkeeper for Hasselquist Pontiac Buick until the business was closed. She was a member of Our Gang Club where she served as a board member for eight years and was active with the Senior Center and Art Council in Waseca. Irene was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca where she was active with WCCW. She loved to travel, play bridge, golf and socialize at Lakeside Country Club. Irene always looked forward to hosting her special Easter dinners with family and driving her car. Although Irene was never married nor had any children she always held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews. Blessed be her memory.
Survived by two siblings: Jacqueline Olson of Blooming Prairie, and Tommie Sotebeer of Windom; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Bill, Harvey and Mike; sisters: Rosellia, Helen and Rita.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at St. Columbanus Catholic Cemetery in Blooming Prairie.
Memorials may be given in memory of Irene Oliver to the Waseca Area Foundation.
