Irene M. Carda, age 104 of Janesville, formerly of Geddes, South Dakota, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Janesville Nursing Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 1st at 11:00 A.M. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville with Fr. Peter Klein, Celebrant. Interment will be held on Saturday at 1:30 P.M. in Geddes, South Dakota at St. Ann''s Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. prior to services, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville. Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville is handling arrangements. There will also be a visitation in Geddes, South Dakota on Saturday, March 2nd from 12:00 Noon until 1:15 P.M. at St. Ann's Catholic Church.

Irene Margaret was born December 18, 1908 in Geddes, South Dakota to Joe and Clara (Bartekoske) Rokusek. She was united in marriage to Stephen S. Carda on August 30, 1927 at St. Mark''s Catholic Church Rectory in Lake Andes, SD. They raised their family and resided on their farm in Charles Mix County near Geddes. Her husband passed away October 29, 1964. Irene remained on the farm until 1978 when the moved into Geddes. In 2006 Irene moved to Janesville, Minnesota to live near her son and his family.

Irene is survived by her son, Richard (Madonna) Carda of Janesville; 7 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen; parents, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers, and nieces and nephews.
