Howard 'Red' Anderson December 23, 1928 - September 30, 2012
Howard "Red" Anderson, age 83, of Faribault, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at his home following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Howard Andrew Anderson, the son of Albert and Teresa (Thompson) Anderson, was born on December 23, 1928 in Delavan, MN. He graduated from Delavan High School. He met the love of his life, Lucille Ascheman, when she was 14 and he was 15. They were high school sweethearts and were married on December 28, 1950 at Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton, MN. Howard worked with his father, Albert, at Amboy, MN for the Willow Creek Telephone Co. He attended school in Minneapolis to learn cable splicing and worked as a splicer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from Feb. 1951 - Jan. 1953 in Vinehagen, Germany at a radio site for the Army of Occupation. He and Lucille lived in Mankato, MN and worked for Northwestern Bell from 1953-56. They moved to Faribault in 1956 and he continued working for Northwestern Bell until his retirement in 1985 after 32 years. Lucille preceded him in death on June 25, 2000. He was a member of the Faribault Council 889 Knights of Columbus, Telephone Pioneers of America, and was active in the Boy Scouts of America. He is survived by five children, Jeanne (Doug) Blow of Faribault, Paul "Red" (Barb) Anderson of Mankato, Marcia (Tom) Hallet of Faribault, Julie (Alan) Musech of Eden Prairie, MN, and Kris Anderson ( Darcie Bauer) of Faribault; ten grandchildren, Rene Cate, Ben Blow, Mitch and Cory Anderson, Cole and Cooper Hallet, Nick, Claire, and Anne Musech, and Meadow Anderson; four great grandchildren, Liza, Nancy, and Tommy Cate, and Caleb Blow; brother, Calvin (Nina) Anderson of Wellfleet, Mass.; sister, Delores (Robert) Dobie of Amboy, MN; sisters-in-law, LaNore Anderson of Thorpe, WI and Joan Thisius of Concord, CA; brother-in-law, Robert Ascheman of Des Moines, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
