Herbert 'Herb' W. Youngerberg May 1, 1926 - June 24, 2014

Herbert "Herb" Youngerberg, age 88, of Waterville and formerly of rural Janesville, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill, with Reverend Keith Bilitz officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at the Smiths Mill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Arrangements are being completed by the Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville.

Herbert William, the son of Herman and Martha (Glamm) Youngerberg, was born on May 1, 1926 in Blue Earth County. He attended rural Blue Earth County Country School and in 1945, enlisted in the U.S. Army. Herb was stationed in Nagasaki and Hiroshima, Japan and later received an honorable discharge in 1946. He then returned back home to farm with his three brothers. On June 20, 1952, Herb was united in marriage to Eleanor Morsching at the St. Peters "Bell" Lutheran Church in North Elysian. Herb worked at Birds Eye and General Foods for many years and later retired in 1989. He and Ele then enjoyed spending the last twenty-one summers at Kamp Dels in Waterville and the winters at Val Vista Village in Mesa, AZ where they served as travel agents for the retirement community. They also spent the last three winters at 6 Lakes Country Club in Ft. Myers, Fl.

Outside of working, Herb enjoyed golfing, traveling, fishing, spending time with his family and friends, and being involved on the board of directors of the Sunday Hymn Sings at Val Vista Village.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; his children, Lon Youngerberg (Nancy Engelby), Cindi Jo (R. David) Trahms, and Scott (Jill) Youngerberg; his thirteen grandchildren and two

great grandchildren; his brother, Clarence Youngerberg; his sisters and brother-in-law, Helen Youngerberg, Marilyn Morsching, Ruth Dahl, and Del (Phyllis) Pope; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Harold and Rueben (Verna) Youngerberg; his sister-in-law, Ruth Youngerberg; and by his brothers-in-law, Paul Morsching and Ernie Dahl.
