HELEN J. CARTER, age 86 of Waseca, formerly of Waterville, passed away in the early hours of Monday, October 10, 2022 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waseca.
Born in Heron Lake, Jackson County, Minnesota on October 8, 1936, Helen was the daughter of Art and June (Wright) Aeiling. June was later married to Wesley Waugh, and together they raised Helen and her brother, Glen. Helen went to school in St. Paul and Waterville, MN, before graduating from high school in Colorado. She met the man that would become her husband, Veston E. Carter, while he was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base. They were married by Rev. Millsap on June 26, 1956 at the Methodist church in Brighton, CO. Together they had a family of three children. Helen was a homemaker that enjoyed sewing, crafting, playing bingo, and crocheting for her friends and family. She was also a fantastic cook, and family dinners will never be the same without her turkey stuffing. More than anything else in the world, though, Helen loved her husband and family. She loved “just being grandma” and all that title entailed. She was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary in Waterville and a long-time member of Harvest Time church in Faribault. Her relationship with Jesus was very important to her. She loved the Lord and wanted others to know Him too.
Helen is survived by her husband, Veston of Waseca; three children, Lillian (Robert “Bob”) Rohl of Eloy, AZ, Belinda (Steve) Kiesler of Waseca, and Jim (Carol) Carter of Waseca; six grandchildren, Miranda (Rich) Wagner of Park City, UT, Matt (Marsjon) Rohl of Sammamish, WA, Kristi (Mike) Corchran of Waseca, Katie (Kelvin) Nelson of Waseca, Elijah Carter of Waseca, and Isaac Carter of Waseca; and seven great-grandchildren, Jameson(9), Jaxon(7), Eve(6), Rocky(3), Sjoni(11), Riley(17), and Madison(21). She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother.
