HELEN ELIZABETH BARTELT, age 74 of Waseca, died at her home on Monday, July 11, 2016.
Born in Claremont on September 13, 1941, Helen was the daughter of Rudolph and Leona (Kober) Dietrich.  She was baptized and later confirmed at Hagery Lutheran Church in Skyberg, Minnesota.  In 1958 she graduated from Kenyon High School.  She met LeRoy Hedin in 1960 and they operated a dairy farm in Cannon Falls.  They later farmed in Warsaw until separating in 1984.  Helen worked at Brown Printing Co. in Waseca and later owned and operated Pa & Helens Otisco Tavern.  She then worked at E.F. Johnson Company and Itron in Waseca.  On June 17, 1995 she married James Bartelt, and they made their home together until his passing in December 2012.  Helen enjoyed fishing, gambling, and visiting with her family.
Helen is survived by her children, Jeffery (Carol) Hedin of North Branch, Tammy (Bob) Waligursky of Gaastra, MI, Cheryl (Troy) Root of New Richland, Dick Root of New Richland, Bonnie (Robert) Hager of Hartland, Robert Hedin of New Ulm, and Brian Hedin of New Prague; twenty grandchildren; twenty eight great-grandchildren; step-children and step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by four siblings, Janet Faber of River Falls, Hilda Howard of West Concord, Marlene Dietrich of Rochester, and Alvin Dietrich of Manorville.  She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband; two daughters, Rita and Brenda; one sister, Mary Emerson; and one granddaughter, Elysha.
Services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca with Rev. John Omans officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
