Hazel Bethke

Hazel Eldora Bethke, age 103 passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 06, 2025 at Foxdale Memory Care. 

Hazel was born April 2,1921 in Waseca to Arthur & Alveda (Johnson) Palm. Married to Wally Bethke Feb 20th 1941 at Vista Convent Church in New Richland. She worked at Birdseye for many years. She loved spending time with family. She also loved baking, gardening, and she loved all animals, especially cats. She was famous for her Fattigman donuts and molasses cookies. She taught the grandkids how to make them so her legacy will live on. She belonged to Southside Mothers Club, sewing club and a member of the Waseca Area Senior Center. She was a long time member of the EUB and later the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Waseca.

She is survived by her daughter, Gerri Kampen of Waseca, Donnie Bethke of Ellendale, by grandchildren Debbie (Dale) Gehring of Famington, Lorri (Jim) Hill of Waseca, Julie (Brad) Pederson Waseca, Michael (Tiffany) Gehloff of Ellendale, Shelia(Don) Krueger of New Richland, Sonja Zangs of Lakeville, Carey Worthy of Stockholm, WI, Josh Bethke of Red Wing. Great grandchildren, Justin (Lisa) Fette, Ashley (Justin) Mohlke, Tara Hill, Brandon Pederson, Jacob Hill, Zachary (Chelsea) Gehloff, Madison (Beau) Gehloff, Jozie Gehloff, Mason Gehloff, Danielle (Bryan) Andrews, Clay Krueger, Trevor Zangs, Garrett Zangs, Donovan Zangs, Noah Bethke, Kamden Bethke. 5 Great Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wally, her son Wally Jr.; son in-law Louis Kampen, sister Jean & brother in-law Gerald Ferry, brother Richard & sister in-law Marjorie Palm, brother Kenneth & sister in-law JoAnn Palm.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 14, 2025 at the State Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca. Visitation will be held on Friday, one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery.
