Harvey A. Jobe
Harvey A. Jobe, a longtime resident of Waseca, Minnesota, went home on March 23, 2016 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He was 95 years old.
Harvey Arthur Jobe was born on October 4, 1920 on a farm in New Richland Township to Arno and Clara (Neuman) Jobe. He had 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Dad went to school in Madelia where he finished 8th grade.
Dad was really a jack of all trades. He farmed, he was a factory worker, he cut wood, he was a carpenter, and in retirement he built birdcages and lamps that he sold at craft fairs. He was a Ford man, particularly his Ford trucks.
Dad met the love of his life Walltrout Krueger at the Wilton Lutheran Church.  Dad was a quiet and shy kind of guy and tells of Mom saying not long after they started dating, 'Well, are you going to marry me or not?' They were married on Feb. 7, 1942. They started married life with 2 pigs, a horse and a cow that Dad's parents gave them as a wedding gift.  They farmed near New Richland. Farming was a hard life and to make things worse, their house on the Bullard Farm caught fire and burnt to the ground. Mom and Dad had just purchased a new Coronado refrigerator. Dad put that refrigerator on his back and carried it out of the burning house. They lost everything, except that refrigerator. They continued farming until 1952 when they moved to Waseca.
They rented the upstairs of a two story house on State Street and bought the lot that they would build their future home on. They saved until they had enough money for Dad and Jake Kredowski, who worked with Dad at EF Johnson's, to start building the basement house. When the basement house was finished, he moved his family in and lived there while they saved enough money to finish the main house. They lived at 804 4th Street until they built 'the new house' across the street at 805 4th Street in 1976. They lived there until they moved to Latham Place in 2008. After Mom passed Dad moved to Colorado Springs to be closer to JoAnn and her family.
As Dad got older he lost a lot of his shyness, enjoyed meeting people and had a great sense of humor. He loved playing cards, especially Buck Euchre, Pfeiffer, pinochle, and bridge. At Mount Saint Francis Nursing Center in Colorado Springs, Dad was the bingo king. He loved playing, but he really loved winning! In his younger years he loved fishing for bullheads and crappies and traveling extensively with Mom.  After retirement, they made many friends in Arizona where they wintered in their trailer around Apache Junction for almost 20 years.  Wearing out three RVs, they also belonged to several RV groups, especially enjoying their Holiday Trailer group.
As he reflected on his life, he was extremely proud of everything he and Mom had accomplished. They started with very little and worked hard their entire lives. They had three children: sons Harvey Richard and William Arthur followed by daughter JoAnn Marie almost 13 years later. They were proud that all three of their children were college graduates. Dad is survived by his children Harvey (Jannice Link), William (Lyn), JoAnn (Bill) Schmitz, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  He is also survived by brother Norris (Lorraine) Jobe of Waterville and sister Shirley (Marvin) Schwartz of Alexandria.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Walter, Lester, and Clarence, and sisters Viola Jobe, Edna Mork, and Nora Schoenfeldt
A funeral will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St Pauls Lutheran Church in Waseca, Minnesota.  Visitation will take place one hour before services at the church.  Harvey will be buried at Woodville Cemetery next to his beloved wife of 67 years, Wally.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Harveys life.
