Harold Goebel, age 78 of Janesville, died on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27th at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin officiating.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of services at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred. Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville is handling arrangements.
Harold was born on January 17, 1935 to Harvey and Elsie (Torgeson) Goebel in Arlington, Minnesota. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1952. On February 16, 1955 he was united in marriage to Barbara "Bobbie" J. Nelson in Green Isle, Minnesota. After their marriage Harold and "Bobbie" resided in Arlington and he was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Peterson Construction of Gibbon. Harolds career in construction moved their family to Gibbon, Gaylord, Waseca, Waldorf, and Phillipsburg, Kansas. In 1962 he became self-employed in construction. After his construction career he became an owner/operator of his own trucking company, D&H Transportation of Janesville. Harold enjoyed woodworking, salmon fishing, boating on the Mississippi with his grandchildren, traveling with his wife "Bobbie" and spending time with his dog Benji. He loved and treasured his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife "Bobbie" of Janesville; children, Denise (Greg) Leiferman of Truman, Diane (Jim) Schwichtenberg of Janesville, Duane (Cindy) Goebel of Ellendale, Darlene (Ken Thompson) Privette of Deltona, FL, and Debbie (Joel) Westphal of Janesville; by 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Audrey (Jim) Willard of Monticello and Marian Kietzer of Escondido, CA; by many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roland Goebel and Robert Bauer; sister, Lea Kliest.
Casket bearers are Harolds grandsons; Jeremy Leiferman, Adam Leiferman, Christopher Leiferman, Kevin Leiferman, Jared Schwichtenberg, Nate Goebel, Jon Goebel, Brian Privette and Jason Privette.
