GWYNETH KIRK, age 74 of Waseca went to be with her Heavenly Father peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Born on December 11, 1940 in Oakenshaw, North Yorkshire, England, she was the daughter of Roland and Edith (Darby) Metcalfe.  She attended school in Cleckheaton, North Yorkshire, England and married Brian Kirk on September 1, 1962 in Oakenshaw.  They lived in Oakenshaw until coming to the United States in 1967 where they lived in Humboldt, IA for a short time before moving to Waseca.  In Waseca, Gwyneth worked as a waitress at the Maplewood Restaurant, at Waseca Mutual, and as a cook in the Waseca School System.   She later worked as a cook at the Yellow Mushroom for 16 years.   She enjoyed knitting, camping, reading, embroidering, playing bingo and spending time with family and friends.  Gwyneth was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and the quilters in Waseca, TOPS, and the Waseca Players Theater Group.
She is survived by her loving husband, Brian of Waseca; two daughters, Janet (Brian) Petersen of Waseca and Gillian (James) Sheridan of Tyler, TX; four grandchildren, Kyle (Christine) Petersen, Kourtney (Ryan) DeBlois, Gwyneth Sheridan, and Elizabeth Sheridan; and one great grandchild, Lillian Buenger.   She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 4-8 PM and continue on Thursday, one hour before services at the church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Cary Larson officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
