Gloria E. Hassler, age 80, of Faribault, died Friday, October 23, 2009, surrounded by her family, at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault with the Rev. Fernando Ortega officiating. Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to services. Gloria Elaine Novak, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Velishek) Novak, was born on January 27, 1929 in Montgomery, MN. She attended Montgomery High School and graduated with the class of 1946. On October 6, 1947 she was united in marriage to Delbert R. Hassler at the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, MN. Mr. Hassler preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 2001. Gloria worked for over 40 years at the Faribault Daily News and Cannon Valley Printing in the circulation department and as an inserter. Gloria enjoyed traveling, going for car rides, listening to country music, embroidery, gardening and spending time with all of her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She is survived by four children, Shirley (Roger) Pumper of Northfield, MN, Bonnie (Emil) Tikalsky of New Prague and Jean Hassler and fiance Erv Kuchinka of Shieldsville and Tom Hassler of Faribault; by 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; by four brothers, Walter (Kathy) Novak of Kilkenny, MN, Clayton (Sharon) Novak of Montgomery, MN, Calvin (Patricia) Novak of Faribault and Bob (Renee) Novak of Montgomery; by three sisters, Lou (Burt) Grimm of Montgomery, MN, Patricia (Bob) Peterson of Faribault and Kathy (Don) Eustice of Faribault; by her daughter in law, Sande Hassler of Faribault; by two sisters in law, Betty Novak and Janna Novak, both of Faribault and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son Tim Hassler, two sisters in infancy, Dolores and Mildred Novak, two brothers, Joseph and Milo Novak and by her nephew Tabb Novak.
