Glenn Daniel Schubbe

April 20, 1932 — April 4, 2018

Glenn Schubbe, 85 year old resident of rural Pemberton, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at his home.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato with Pastor Dennis Heiden officiating. Interment will be in Medo Lutheran Cemetery at rural Pemberton.
Visitation will be from 4:00 7:00 pm on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Starkson & Steffel Funeral Home ~ Arnoldt Chapel of Janesville and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Glenn Daniel Schubbe was born on April 20, 1932 to Elwin and Melinda (Benz) Schubbe in Medo Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. He attended Pemberton High School where he excelled playing football and graduated with the class of 1950. Glenn enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 28, 1951, and was later honorably discharged on April 27, 1955. Glenn furthered his education at Mankato State College graduating with a bachelors degree in business.
On December 23, 1955, Glenn was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Janet "Jenny" Oftedahl at the Congregational Church in Pemberton. Together they moved to Wisconsin and Anoka for a short time before making their home in rural Pemberton. Glenn worked for the YMCA while living in Wisconsin. He later accepted a position with Northern State Power (NSP) where he worked until his retirement in 1992. In retirement, Glenn and Jenny enjoyed traveling together, especially their yearly trips to Branson and going to Florida and Nashville to visit family. They enjoyed playing dominos and cards together. Glenn and Jenny shared 59 years of devoted marriage before Jenny passed away on December 1, 2015.
Glenn was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato. He was a former member of the Waldorf Pemberton School Board and a Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed hunting, working on upholstery, woodworking and collecting toy tractors. Glenn was passionate about his faith and would regularly attend church synod meetings as a parish representative. Glenn will be remembered by his family for his serious demeanor and unique sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his children: Gary (Linda) of Brevard, NC, Annie (David) Bennett of Valley Spring SD, and Wade (Amber) of Garden City; 10 grandchildren: Meghann, Brandt, Melissa, Lauren, Olivia, Daniel, Samuel, Nathaniel, Riddick, and Kiara; three great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Liz Hageman of Mankato; siblings: Elwin (Adeline) of Springfield, Eileen Oldenburg of Cheyenne, WY, Donald of Bemidji, James (Dorothea) of Fishers, IN, Charles (Audrey) of Pemberton, Marvin (Vivian) of Mapleton, Shirley (Stanley) Thompson of Finlayson, MN and Carol (Charles) Grams of Janesville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, four children: Craig, Jeff, Troy and Amy; sister-in-law, Shirley; brother-in-law, Vern Kroschel.
