Gladys Roeker June 16, 1925 - September 11, 2008

Gladys L. Roeker, age 83 of rural Janesville, died on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Janesville Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freedom Township, Waseca County with Rev. Glenn Korb officiating. Interment will be in the Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Arnoldt- McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville, and will continue on Monday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. Gladys LaJune was born on June 16, 1925 to Frank and Martha (Volkmann) Maas in Waseca County, Minnesota. She was baptized on July 26, 1925 and confirmed on March 17, 1940, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. On April 4, 1945 Gladys was united in marriage to Leonard John Roeker at St. John''s Ev. Lutheran Church in Alma City. Gladys and Leonard resided in Waseca for a short time before moving to their Freedom Township residence, south of Janesville. Gladys worked with her husband in his painting business, and for over 40 years she worked as custodian for Immanuel Lutheran Church right next door to their home. She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Oran) Graper of Waseca, and LaVonne (Michael) Harnish of Elysian; by her sisters, Alvina Theelke of Waseca and Alice (Leo) Slechta of Waterville; by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard on November 10, 1996 and her son Roger at infancy; by her parents and eleven siblings. Casket bearers are: David Clausen, Dan Zander, Phil Marquardt, Len Marquardt, Harold Krienke, and Alvis More.
