Gladys M. Meyer, age 80 of Waldorf, died on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the Janesville Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville with Rev. Ron Brey officiating. Interment will be in the Janesville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville and will continue on Saturday morning one hour prior to services. Gladys Marie was born February 3, 1928 in Arapahoe County, Colorado to Charles and Lena (Rhine) Shafer. In 1947 she graduated from Byers High School in Colorado. Gladys was united in marriage to Charles H. Meyer in Kansas. Gladys and Charles lived in Colorado until 1958 when they moved to Minnesota. They lived in various communities in Southern Minnesota before returning to Colorado in 1968. In 1978 they moved back to Minnesota and settled in Waldorf. Over the years Gladys worked as a home health aid, and was a homemaker. She is survived by her children, Richard (Mary) Meyer of Angels Camp, CA, Charles Meyer of Waldorf, Randy (Nola) Meyer of Zion, ILL, Tony (Judy) Meyer of St. Louis, MO, and John (Terrie) Meyer of Springville, IA; by her grandchildren and great grandchildren; by her siblings Walter Shafer of Jacksonville, FL, Nellie Mae Bealhart of Pocatello, ID; by her sister-in-law Norma Shafer of Firth, ID and her daughter-in-law Megumi (Frank) Woodbury of Coarsegold, CA; by nieces and nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles in 1966 and her son Larry in 1978; by her brothers Lester Shafer and Robert Shafer, and her sister Dorothy Roeder; by her sister-in-law Audrey Shafer and her brother-in-law Bill Bealhart.
