GLADYS “GLADY” MAE BAUMAN, age 91 of Waseca, died on the evening of Saturday, December 7, 2024 at her Colony Court home in Waseca.
Glady was born in Waseca on January 1, 1933, to parents Albert and Mabel (Roesler) Wobschall. She attended school in Waldorf. On December 27, 1952, she was united in marriage to Marlyn Bauman. They lived and worked on a farm in rural New Richland until Marlyn’s passing in April of 2000. In 2007 she moved into Waseca. Over the years Glady was employed at the E.F. Johnson Company and the Brown Printing Company, although her primary career was the daycare business that she operated for over 30 years. Glady and Marlyn had a great love for fostering children and had taken into their home over 100 Foster children. In her later years she enjoyed traveling to Arizona during the winter, volunteering at the Waseca Clinic, the Neighborhood Service Center, and the Waseca Senior Center where she had formerly served on the board. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, playing cards, and being around children – especially the grandkids. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca, and she will be fondly remembered by every person she knew and loved.
Glady is survived by four children, Deb (Gary Young) Kahnke of Waseca, Sue (Randy) Borchert of Waseca, Jerome (Lynn Stoltzman) Bauman of New Richland, and Lorna (Dan Houdek) Warke of New Richland; ten grandchildren and their families, Jenae Peterson, Kyle Kahnke, Christa Kahnke, Joshua Warke, Jordan Warke, Shaun Borchert, Tyler Borchert, Katie Nelson, Ashley Bauman, and Hunter Bauman; twenty-one great-grandchildren; special foster children, Brandie Anderson, Heidi Zimbrich, and Sara Carroll; as well as many other special relatives and foster children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Lowell Wobschall; as well as many other special relatives.
The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the dedicated staff at Colony Court and Ecumen Hospice for the loving care they offered to Glady.
