Jerry was also a volunteer firefighter for the Chelsea IA fire department. Jerry was a great father to his children they have many fond memories of growing up in Janesville/Waseca area with their father. One of the fondest memories the family has is their trip up to Duluth staying in the family cabin and seeing many attractions. Family was very dear to Jerry as he had such a large family. Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to travel and explore many places and never worried about getting lost. Jerry was a unique and creative thinker who was larger than life and an excellent problem solver. He would always think outside of the box. He enjoyed time playing pool, listening to music and dancing. Jerry was a protective, loving husband, father and grandfather. When Jerry was diagnosed with Glioblastoma stage four brain cancer in January 2006, he embarked on his epic journey to fulfill his bucket list. He pointed his Harley west to the Pacific Ocean, pitching a tent along the way where he listened to the owls, coyotes and the world at large underneath the open skies. He had traveled to Montana to elk hunt and fly fish, to Savannah GA and to Puerto Rico with his wife Traci. Jerry always said "life is too short; make time for the things and the people you love".
