George Lopez November 17, 1954 - February 2, 2013
George Lopez, age 58 of Janesville, died on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Benedictine Living Community of St. Peter.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 7th at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Michael Mathews, officiating. Interment will be in the St. John''s-Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Iosco Township, Waseca County.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, and will continue on Thursday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred.
George was born November 17, 1954 in the Bronx, NY to Pedro J. and Justina (Colon) Lopez. He attended public school #15 in Paterson, NJ. For many years George worked with his father and brother, Pedro, in the family''s carpentry business in Paterson, NJ. In 1994 he moved to Minneapolis where he worked as a program coordinator for North Minneapolis troubled youth. It was in 1996 that George met the love of his life, Susan Arndt. They were united in marriage on June 20, 1998 in Brooklyn Park. That same year they moved to Janesville, and George took a position with SPX in Owatonna. He later worked as custodian for Trinity Lutheran School in Janesville, and most recently was employed with MTU On-Site Energy in Mankato. George was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, bowling, playing cards with friends, cribbage with his father-in-law and mother-in-law, drawing, reading scripture, and time spent with his family and friends and his dog, Skye.
He is survived by his wife, Susan of Janesville; daughter, Angela Lopez of Haledon, NJ; mother, Justina Lopez of Pensacola, FL; siblings, Miguel Lopez of Pensacola, FL, Pedro Lopez of Pensacola, FL, Carlos (Candace) Lopez of Minneapolis, Jesus (Dawn) Lopez of Shirley, NY, and Ramona (Jose) Moreno of Pensacola, FL; 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; father-in-law, Willard Arndt of Janesville; sisters-in-law, Diane (special friend Terry Lundgren) Radunz of Janesville, Shirley (Roger) Meister of Mankato;
brothers-in-law, Gary (Paula) Arndt of Janesville, Richard (Carol) Arndt of Mankato; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Pedro J.; brother, Felix; niece, Michelle Thomas; mother-in-law, Edna Arndt.
