GEORGE ALLEN AMSRUD, age 89 of Waseca, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault.
Born in Austin on February 9, 1930, George was the son of Henry and Alma (Darrud) Amsrud.  Following his schooling he served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1953.  He married Jo Ann Glee Wilker in Waseca in 1960, and they made their life together until her passing in 2000.  George worked in the parts department of Countryside Motors in Waseca for several years and later worked as a driver and mechanic for Murphy Freight.  He enjoyed building model airplanes and he was a member of the United Methodist Church in Janesville.
George is survived by two children, Robert (Mary) Amsrud of Waseca, and Stacy Amsrud of Shieldsville; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters; and three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, with Rev. Kathy King officiating.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at 12:45PM on Tuesday, April 9, 2019.
