Geneva 'Tootie' Swanson February 27, 2009

Geneva M. "Tootie" Swanson, age 83, of Faribault, died Friday, February 27, 2009 at the Faribault Commons Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault. Spring interment will be held at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday for one hour prior to services. Geneva Borst, the daughter of Albert and Edith (VanThomme) Borst, was born on April 9, 1925 in Faribault. On September 19, 1942 she was united in marriage to Robert Gust Swanson at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. Mr. Swanson preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1997. Tootie worked as a candy maker at the Olympia Caf and was a cook at the Woods Nursing Home and later at Buckeye Manor, all in Faribault. Tootie enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time in her flower garden, cooking, reading and spending time with her family. She is survived by four children, Charles (Gay) Swanson, Sandra (Ray) Strouth, Daniel (Lisa) Swanson and Guy (Kathleen) Swanson, all of Faribault; by 18 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; by her sister Violet Kadlec of Hesperia, CA and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Robert Swanson Jr. and by four brothers.
