Gary Gene Ross

GARY GENE ROSS, age 84 of Waseca, died on the evening of Monday, February 12, 2024, at Lakeshore Inn in Waseca.

Gary was born in Waseca on July 19, 1939, to parents Orville Charles and Ruth Mae (Lau) Ross.  He attended school in rural Waseca County before beginning to work.  He drove feed trucks for local producers and milk trucks for the local creameries for many years.  He also worked for Lyle Seewald’s Ambulance Service, spent many years working for the railroad, drove for Johnson Brothers Ready Mix, and ended his working years as a driver for Lenz Bus Service.  Gary was married to Beryl Dillon on March 20, 1965, and they made their life together in Waseca until her passing in 2022.  He was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, and he enjoyed playing pfeffer, fishing, attending truck and tractor pulls, collecting anything and everything related to John Deere Tractors, and was an avid fan of all things stock-car racing.

Gary is survived by two children, Lisa Ross of Waseca and Gene Ross of Waseca; step-children Michael (Sharon) Graves of Effingham, KS, Charles (Penny) Dillon of Holmen, WI, Stewart (Connie) Dillon of Mankato, Gloria McKinzie of Waseca, and Karen (Bert) Anderson of Waseca; two siblings, James Ross of Waseca, and Diane (Fred) Ventura of Owatonna; many step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.   He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and many other special relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the State Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca, with Rev. Michael Grannis officiating.   Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Woodville cemetery in Waseca.
