Gary Gene Thieme

GARY GENE THIEME, age 81 of Waseca, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 20, 2020, which also is his daughter Pam’s birthday.

Born in Jackson, MN on his mother’s birthday, June 14, 1939, Gary was the son of Lyle and Rose Ann (Prokes) Thieme. He grew up in Jackson and graduated from Jackson High School in 1957. It was also in Jackson that he met the love of his life, Arlene Nyborg. They were married on June 25, 1960 in Jackson. They then moved to Windom and both worked at the Citizen Publishing Company. Gary and Arlene moved to Waseca in 1966 where Gary began working at Brown Printing Company. He continued his career there for thirty years. After his retirement Gary enjoyed his hobby of collecting complicated wrist watches, but his greatest hobby was being with his wife, Arlene. She was God’s gift to him. Gary was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and he will be fondly remembered by many friends there and throughout the community.

Left to cherish Gary’s memory are two daughters, Pam Crain of Red Wing, MN, and Nancy (Mark) Denn of Waseca, MN; five grandchildren, Sara Crain, Robby Crain and his fiancé, Cailyn Pierce, Jackson (Emily) Denn, Nelson (Ellie Decker) Denn, and Jacob Denn; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Jo Boyd and Adelaide Arlene Denn; and two sisters, Joanie (Wayne) Wendel of St. Peter and their children, Randy (Joyce) Wendel and Paula (Murri) More, and Mary Jo Durand of Makawao, HI and her daughter, Alysia Durand. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife; and a brother-in-law, Peter Durand.

Visitation for Gary will be held from 1-3pm on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at the third street chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca. A private family prayer service will be held at 3:00pm. A private family interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Jackson.
